Postdoc Position at Rutgers Discovery Informatics Institute and Cancer Institute of New Jersey
Postdoc position available at Rutgers University for a joint project
between Rutgers Discovery Informatics Institute and Rutgers Cancer
Institute of New Jersey.
Our research focuses on the design, development, and implementation of
new approaches in high-performance computing, large-scale data
analytics, pattern recognition, and computational imaging for
resolving challenging problems in cancer biology, investigative
medicine, and biomedical informatics.
We are looking for outstanding candidates who have earned a Ph.D. in
Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a
related field. The successful candidate will be expected to work
independently as well as part of a cross-disciplinary team. This
individual must have excellent communications skills and be willing to
work closely with both clinical and research faculty and students.
Responsibilities include development of new algorithms, software and
technologies as they relate to ongoing genomics, imaging and informatics
programs and initiatives. The successful candidate is expected to help
support ongoing NIH- and NSF-funded research projects and pursue
additional funding.
Required skills:
- Working knowledge of at least two of the following: Perl, Python,
Java, Matlab, R, C/C++
- Experience working within Linux environments
- Experience with and excellent understanding of statistical analysis
- Knowledge of high performance parallel/distributed computing concepts
and practices
Other skills:
- Some understanding of molecular biology
- Experience working with bioinformatics tools and understanding of
common bioinformatics
algorithms
